예전에 부산 살 때에는, 서울 사람들이 매번 해운대, 광안리 노래 부르듯 말하는 걸
이해를 하지 못했었는데,
와서 살고 있으니까 그 이유를 알 수 있을 것 같다..
서울이 생활하긴 훨씬 편하지만,
갑갑하고 복잡한 느낌이 크다..
그런 의미에서 부산의 바다는 넓고 탁 트인 것이 참으로 시원하단 말이지..
문득 예전 생각 나는구나..

상권 부활 등 광안리 ‘불황탈출 빛’ 머금다

#해변 문화공간으로 탈바꿈
광안리는 몇 해 전 광안대교 완공과 아시아·태평양경제협력체(APEC) 정상회의를 계기로 상권 부활을 꿈꾸기도 했다. 해변도로에 테마 거리를 조성, 분위기를 바꿨지만 떠난 시민들은 좀처럼 돌아오지 않았다. 여름철의 반짝 특수를 그나마 위안으로 삼았다. 부동산 경기도 꽁꽁 얼어붙었다. 60억원짜리 건물은 30억원에 내놓아도 팔리지 않았다. 광안리에서 30여년 동안 부동산 중개업을 한 어혜자씨(67·여)는 “상권 하락으로 10년 새 광안리 주변의 부동산 가격이 거의 반으로 떨어졌다”며 고개를 내저었다.
침체한 광안리가 최근 ‘빛’으로 불황을 딛고 일어설 준비를 하고 있다. 광안대교의 화려한 ‘빛’과 해변에 꾸민 조형물의 ‘빛’이다. 지난달 5일 해변 전체를 미술관으로 바꿔놓은 경관조명사업인 ‘바다·빛 미술관’이 개장됐다. 매일 일몰 이후 자정까지 화려한 조명과 레이저 등으로 자연과 예술의 환상적인 만남을 연출한다.
화려한 볼거리로 단기간에 관광객과 시민을 유혹(?)하기는 힘들다. 그러나 ‘빛’은 광안리의 명성을 되찾고 ‘화려한 부활’이라는 선물을 안겨줄 것으로 상인들은 기대하고 있다. 부경대 관광경영학과 설훈구 교수는 “경관조명사업으로 단기적인 경제적 파급 효과를 기대하기는 어렵지만 장기적으로는 상권의 활성화에 분명히 도움이 될 것”이라고 전망했다.
# 불황 타개에 나선 상인들
최근 광안리 해변 테마거리 상인과 주민 100여명의 모임인 ‘위드광안리’가 팔을 걷어붙였다. 야경을 보러 오는 이들을 놓치지 않겠다는 각오다.
위드광안리의 핵심적 사업은 ‘주말 차 없는 거리 캠페인’이다. 광안리를 찾는 시민과 관광객에게 편안한 휴식처를 제공하겠다는 취지다. 해변도로 상가 앞은 카페 거리로 조성할 계획이다. 현재 수영구청과 협의 중이다.
또 올해부터 테마 거리에서 다양한 축제와 이벤트를 열 예정이다. 한마디로 해변 전체를 부산의 대표적인 문화공간으로 바꾼다는 계획이다. 홈페이지도 만들고 광안리 지역정보지도 만들 생각이다.
행동으로 옮긴 이들도 있다. 한 해양스포츠·레저센터는 낡은 상가 시설을 현대식으로 리모델링하고 고객을 맞을 준비를 완료했다. 몇몇 상점은 실내 인테리어를 새롭게 꾸미고 있다. 이 같은 분위기 탓일까. 최근 유명 피자집과 양과점이 속속 들어서고 고급 헤어숍 등 상점들이 잇따라 문을 열고 있다.
위드광안리 김흥재 사무국장은 “부산불꽃축제, 광안대교 야경, 백사장 경관조명 등 광안리는 ‘빛’으로 다시 태어나고 있다”며 “다양한 문화 콘텐츠를 개발해 예전처럼 많은 사람들이 광안리를 찾도록 만들겠다”고 각오를 밝혔다.
