[서울신문]국내 1위로 평가받아온 김앤장이 국내 로펌업계를 완전히 평정했다.29일 발간된 아시아의 법률전문 월간지인 ‘아시아 로(Asia law)’ 5월호에 따르면 김앤장은 금융, 지적재산권, 기업자문, 정보통신(IT), 송무 및 중재, 인수합병(M&A)등 모두 6개 분야의 평가 가운데 5개 분야에서 1위를 차지했다. ●태평양, 5개분야서 3위 김앤장은 지난해 평가에서 기업자문과 지적재산권 분야에서 1위를 차지했을 뿐이었다.2위를 차지했던 금융과 송무 및 중재 분야에서 1위로 뛰어올랐고, 신설된 평가 항목인 인수·합병(M&A) 분야에서 1위를 차지했다. 아시아 로는 “김앤장이 한국의 로펌 투표에서 한국시장을 장악하고 있는 것으로 나타났다.”고 설명했다. 잡지는 “김앤장이 외국 고객들에게 한국 시스템이 어떻게 작동하는지를 잘 이해할 수 있게 해주는 교량역할을 하고 있다.”는 한 기업 고문변호사의 평가를 소개했다. 김앤장의 권오창 변호사는 아시아 로의 보도에 대해 “변호사들 사이의 치열한 경쟁과 유기적으로 협력하는 팀플레이를 통해 전문성을 높인 결과라고 생각한다.”고 말했다. 태평양은 6개 분야 가운데 5개 분야에서 3위를 차지했다. 아시아 로는 “서울·도쿄·베이징에 사무소를 두고 있는 태평양은 미국·유럽과 아시아에 기반한 다국적 기업뿐 아니라 몇몇 한국 대기업을 포함한 다수의 외국 고객을 대리하고 있다.”면서 “태평양은 몇개의 획기적인 M&A 거래와 첨단의 자본시장, 재무거래 프로젝트를 성사시켰다.”고 설명했다. 태평양은 지난해 송무 및 중재, 기업자문, 해상 분야에서 각각 1위와 2위,3위에 올랐었다. 광장도 5개 분야에서 2∼5위를 차지했다. 광장은 2005년 7월에 중국으로 확장했고, 같은 해 8월에 지적재산권의 선도기업인 제일특허법률사무소와 합병했다고 소개했다. 하지만 IT, 송무 및 중재, 지적재산권 등 3개 분야에서 1위에 올랐던 지난해에 비하면 평가가 하락한 셈이다. 세종은 금융과 기업자문, M&A등 3개 분야에서 2위를 차지하는 등 4개 분야에서 순위에 올랐다. ●율촌, IT쪽에서 광장 제치고 1위에 IT분야에서 광장(2위)과 김앤장(3위)을 제치고 1위를 차지한 율촌의 약진이 돋보인다. 지난해에는 IT분야에서 광장이 1위, 충정과 세종이 2위, 화우가 3위를 기록했다. IT분야의 순위가 확 뒤바뀐 것이다. 아시아로는 “30명의 파트너와 130명의 직원을 갖고 있는 율촌은 4개 분야에서 이름을 올렸다.”면서 특히 IT 분야에서 1위를 기록했다고 소개했다. 지적재산권 분야에서 2위를 기록한 김장리는 2005년 2월 바른과 합병한 곳이나 아시아 로는 김장리로 표기해 눈길을 끈다. 바른의 김동건 대표변호사는 “김장리와 바른은 합병됐다. 하지만 외국에는 아직도 김장리로 알려져 있다.”고 밝혔다. 세계적인 금융전문지 유로머니(Euromoney)가 매월 발간하는 아시아 로는 지난 2004년부터 매년 우리나라를 비롯해 중국, 인도, 인도네시아, 필리핀, 말레이시아 등 아시아에서 아직 법률시장이 개방되지 않은 주요 국가들의 로펌을 대상으로 평가를 해 순위를 발표하고 있다. 설문조사에는 7500개 기업법무팀과 75개 다국적로펌이 참여했다. 박지윤 김민희 기자 jypark@seoul.co.kr “맛있는 정보! 신선한 뉴스!” - Copyrights ⓒ서울신문사. 무단 전재 및 재배포 금지 - |
