거품 뺀 게임기, 더 재밌네
하드 뺀 엑스박스 29만원… 기능축소 플3 34만원… 포터블도 저가형 출시
게임기에도 가격 파괴 바람이 불고 있다. 게임기 제조업체들이 TV에 연결해 사용하는 가정용 게임기 및 휴대용 게임기 가격을 속속 내리고 있다. 하지만 가격을 내리기 위해 업체들이 일부 기능을 제외한 경우가 많으므로 소비자들은 사용 용도와 취향에 맞춰 구매 결정을 할 필요가 있다.
▦ 저가형 엑스박스360
한국마이크로소프트(MS)는 가정용 게임기인 ‘엑스박스360’ 가격을 대폭 인하한 ‘엑스박스360 아케이드 콘솔’을 24일부터 내놓는다. 이 제품 가격은 기존 엑스박스360(38만9,000원)보다 10만원 가량 싼 29만원. 여기에 초고화질(풀HD) 영상을 지원하는 HDMI 단자가 달려 있어 풀HD TV에 연결하면 세밀하고 화려한 풀HD 영상을 즐길 수 있다.
대신 하드디스크가 없다. 기존 엑스박스360의 경우 게임 자료 파일을 저장할 수 있도록 20GB 용량의 하드디스크가 부착돼 있다. 따라서 게임 자료 파일을 저장하려면 함께 제공하는 256MB 용량의 메모리카드를 게임기에 꽂아야 한다.
한국MS 관계자는 “20GB 용량의 하드디스크를 모두 사용하는 사람이 많지 않다”며 “하드디스크가 필요하면 별도로 구매해 장착하면 된다”고 말했다. 그러나 엑스박스360용 하드디스크 가격이 11만원 이상이어서 따로 구매할 경우 기존 엑스박스360보다 오히려 가격이 더 비싸진다.
한국MS는 겨울방학을 겨냥해 ‘비바 피냐타’ ‘포르자 모터스포츠’ 등 2종의 게임을 무료 제공하는 ‘엑스박스360 홀리데이 패키지’도 성탄절을 전후해 내놓을 예정이다. 9만원 가량의 게임 가격을 할인 받는 셈이어서 매력적이다.
▦ 저가형 PS3
소니컴퓨터엔터테인먼트코리아(SCEK)도 11일에 가정용 게임기 ‘플레이스테이션(PS)3’ 저가형으로 새로 선보였다. 가격이 34만8,000원으로 기존 제품 가격인 51만8,000원보다 17만원이 저렴하다.
기존 제품과 비교했을 때 저가형은 하드디스크 용량과 일부 기능이 차이가 난다. 하드디스크 용량은 기존 제품(80GB)의 절반인 40GB이며 각종 주변기기를 연결할 수 있는 통합직렬버스(USB) 포트도 4개에서 2개로 줄었다. 또 디지털 카메라로 촬영한 사진을 바로 볼 수 있는 메모리슬롯도 사라졌다.
그러나 차세대 DVD인 블루레이와 초고화질(풀HD) 지원, 인터넷 접속 기능 등은 그대로여서 블루레이 감상 및 온라인 게임 등은 무리 없이 즐길 수 있다. 싼 가격과 함께 본체 색상도 검은색 일변도에서 흰색을 새로 추가해 취향에 따라 고를 수 있게 됐다.
